Sheila Brody

As one of George Clinton's original Brides of Funkenstein and known for her dance floor anthems under her alias Amuka, Sheila Brody is a multifaceted vocalist with a diverse array of hits and collaborations. A diva in every sense of the word, Sheila's varied musical styles, ranging from the classic P-Funk sound to rock and dance grooves, have done well on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play and in more recent years, the Hot Dance Airplay chart. But Sheila's music transcends far beyond the charts and radio play, as she's been put on this earth to bring joy and happiness through song. For all her life she's been following her dreams and passion for music, from her adolescent years in church choirs to performances she does today. It's all about sharing the uplifting vibrations created by her sound that aim to inspire positivity to put yourself on the grid of truth, as she calls it.

In the early stages of her musical career, Sheila released a best selling album, "Friday Night", in 1999 (as Blackwood) and single "Peace" in Italy. Adding to her vocal credits, she also performed the song "Everything Changes" on the 1999 soundtrack album Pokémon 2BA Mater. Sheila's return to the states brought about opportunities to collaborate with some of the best producers, remixers and writers including, Peter Rauhofer, that lead to the release of several singles to include her 2003 #1 dance radio hit "Appreciate Me" that was originally featured on the television soundtrack for HBO's Queer as Folk: Club Babylon. In 2006, Brody, under her alias, Amuka, earned her first number-one U.S. dance hit with her third single, "I Want More (Cling on to Me)" followed up by "U Ain't That Good", "Craving", "I Miss You" and other chart topping tunes. In 2007 "My Man" was the first of her songs to have an accompanying music video.

Originally from Detroit, Sheila has now made California her home where she recently signed an exclusive contract with SPITdigital, a new label co-founded by Chuck D of Public Enemy. After being on stage with musicians such as George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Dame Funk, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane and others, Sheila is ready to shed the alias of Amuka and is currently completing the release of a 5 song EP working with acclaimed producer and writer Gary 'G-Wiz' Rinaldo (Bomb Squad, Public Enemy). This is sure to be Sheila Brody's transformative release as a solo artist partnering with G-Wiz to create her best music at the peak of her career. Sheila's passion, spunk and never dying energy shines through like never before and is sure to attract new fans while satisfying those who've been wanting more.
