Sammy Sam musical journey began in Korea when he was signed to Sony Korea at 17. At the time, Sammy knew he wanted to be a recording artist/producer, but his parents wanted him to also get an education in business. He enrolled in Boston University, but continued traveling to Korea to continue performing and pursing his musical career. Sammy was successful in Asia, but wanted to hit the billboards so moved to Vegas to pursue his dreams. While in Vegas, he stumbled into Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav and Flavor hired Sammy to work on music with him. From there, Sammy’s career evolved. Sammy and Flavor were a good team and it was apparent that Sammy’s career was evolving. While he was working with Flavor, producing records, he ran into Public Enemy’s Chuck D.
Right away, Chuck D knew Sammy was something special and so he along with Flavor asked him to join their group Public Enemy. Sammy not only became a hype man for Public Enemy, he also started working on records for the group. He produced one of the songs off Public Enemy’s album, “Evil Empire” titled, “Broke Diva,” as well as a record a song off Chuck D’s solo record, “Get it Right Or Be Gone.” Besides working on Public Enemy records he also produced a track off DJ Lord’s record, ‘’Eat The Rat,” also featuring Chuck D. In 2015, Chuck D signed Sammy to his label SPITdigital as a recording artist. His first EP, “You Already Know,” was released in August and his video “Juicy” was released at the same time, featuring Flavor Flav. Sammy’s next step is going into the studio to lay down tracks for his new album, which he hopes to complete this year. He knows that once he gets this album going, there is no stopping him!
